The only thing that is not immoral is strategic intelligence. It's not unethical hacking. Much of the knowledge a law firm wants to know is freely accessible. What is not readily available on the web will also be identified by actually making a few phone calls and answering questions from the right people.

Several prominent orgnizations have CI workplace consultants, but the regulatory sector is reluctant to continue. This is presumably because CI research is typically expensive for consumers and has to be budgeted elsewhere. However, the payoff can be massive, so it may be worth applying strategic intelligence to the sales strategy of the company.
